Storm & Hail Damage Roof Repair in Mantua Township, NJ

Wind works the edges and hail works the field, and from the driveway neither looks like much. We go up, record it properly and write it down in a form an adjuster can use.

What damage actually looks like up close

Wind shows where the covering is held down least: the rake edges, the ridge line, the first courses above a gutter. A shingle does not have to be missing for the seal strip beneath it to have broken, and a tab that has come loose once will come loose again. Hail is quieter about it. It leaves bruising in the mat beneath the surface and knocks grit away in a scattered pattern that reads as ordinary ageing from the ground and as damage from two feet away. The softest metal on the roof — vents, drip edge, the gutters themselves — usually carries the clearest evidence, which is why it gets photographed first.

What goes into the record

  • Each slope on its own

Separate sets per elevation so the pattern of the strikes stays readable afterwards.

  • Marked test areas

A measured square per slope with the hits counted, which is how hail is usually assessed.

  • Dented soft metal

Vents, edge metal and gutters, which show impact even when the shingles are arguable.

  • Inside the attic

Staining or daylight that follows directly from the damage above it.

  • The date it happened

Tied to the storm, because a claim raised months later gets harder to support.

  • A scoped figure

The work set out in sequence with a figure beside each line, never a single bottom number.

Where we fit around a claim

We are roofers rather than loss assessors, and what your policy owes you is not ours to say. What we will do is build a record detailed enough that an adjuster ends up assessing the roof we looked at, and stand on the ground with them if that helps. If the claim is turned down, or the damage falls below your excess, the repair is simply costed the usual way and the choice is yours from there.

Making it safe in the meantime

Where the covering has been breached, the first job is simply getting it shut. A tarp fastened properly to a dry surface holds for weeks; one flung across a soaked slope and held down by whatever was in the garage does not survive the next gust and usually takes a few more shingles with it. Tell us what is exposed when you ring and we will get it covered properly before any figure is discussed. Storm work puts people on compromised structures, so OSHA certification stops being paperwork and starts being the reason everybody goes home.

Two figures, one visit

We come out, look properly and leave you with the cost of mending it and the cost of replacing it. Both in writing, neither of them owed.
